The Chairman and Managing Director of the diverse business empire Akbar Group is K.V. Abdul Nazar, a visionary entrepreneur. He began working in the tourism industry in the 1970s after being born in the Keralan seaside town of Ponnani. In 1978, recognizing the increasing need for travel to the Gulf, he founded Akbar Travels of India in Mumbai, which has since become the country’s top travel agency. Over two dozen businesses, including operations in travel, hospitality, healthcare, and Ayurvedic wellness, are currently part of the Akbar Group. Under his direction, Akbar Travels grew internationally, operating in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman, and other countries.
